Sergey Dovlatov — play “The Suitcase”

A theatrical production based on the cult classic book “The Suitcase” by Sergey Dovlatov.
Starring: Aleksey Kortnev, Aleksey Agranovich, Semyon Treskunov, Valentin Samokhin, and Anna Tsagarelli.
As he leaves the Soviet Union for the United States, the protagonist takes with him only a small suitcase. Years later, he opens it and finds items that have become reminders of the past. Each one comes to life in a story — funny, sad, and touching.
These are stories about the people, events, and emotions that once filled his life. Through them, a mosaic of the Soviet era unfolds before us — familiar and deeply personal to everyone who lived through it.
The gentle melancholy of memories, Dovlatov’s ironic observations, and subtle metaphors come to life through a stellar cast of actors.
Alexey Kortnev, Aleksey Agranovich, Semyon Treskunov, Valentin Samokhin & Anna Tsagarelli infuse the stories with sincerity and warmth.
The music composed for the performance creates an amazing atmosphere where laughter coexists with nostalgia, and simple stories transform into timeless themes of love, friendship, and the search for oneself.
This play is about how to fit an entire life into one suitcase and keep the warmth of memories alive when you are far from home. It’s also about how, even in the toughest times, we always have something that makes us stronger — memory, love, and hope.

Musician, theater and film actor, TV host, and lead singer of the band “Neschastny Sluchay” (Unfortunate Event).
He has appeared in more than 40 films and provided the voice for the main character in Tim Burton’s animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas. - Aleksey Agranovich
Actor, director, and producer; from 2021 to 2022, he was the artistic director of the Gogol Center. He has appeared in more than 30 films and TV series and has performed in productions directed by Kirill Serebrennikov. He has been nominated twice for the “Golden Mask” award. - Semyon Treskunov
Actor, screenwriter, and director. Made his film debut at the age of 11. Appeared in the films Moms, Ghost, Honest Pioneer, and in the TV series Traffic Light and Ivanovs-Ivanovs. He also works as a screenwriter and director of short films and music videos. - Valentin Samokhin
Actor. Performed in the plays Phantom Pains and Pagans, and appeared in the films and TV series Azazel, The Return of Mukhtar, The Golden Calf, Happy Together, School, Epidemic, and The Master and Margarita.
