Musical director of the "Gesher Theatreand one of its founders Avi Benjamin in the musical monodrama “"Theremin"”

Theremin is the story of the most mystical composer, spy, and inventor of the 20th century — Lev Theremin. It is not only told from the stage by renowned Israeli musician and composer Avi Benjamin, but also performed on the thereminvox — that very same unique musical instrument invented by Lev Theremin.

Avi Benjamin is a well-known figure among Israeli theatre-goers: for many years, he was the musical director of the Gesher Theatre and wrote music for almost all of its productions, including Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead,”, “Adam ben Kelev,”, “The Village,”, “The Idiot,”, “Tartuffe,”and the musical “The Devil in Moscow” — based on Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita.”.

Currently, the Gesher Theatre is enjoying tremendous success with the musical opera “Krum,”or which Avi Benjamin composed the music.

Over the years, Avi Benjamin has written music for more than 50 films in Israel. Among them is a feature film awarded the prestigious Ophir Prize, as well as the popular TV series “Your Honor.”.

Avi has been awarded Israel’s theatre prize, the Ephraim Kishon Award for Theatre Creativity (Ezitage), several times in the category of “Composer of the Year” for his music for “The Devil in Moscow” & “Colors on the Sand.”.
